Kollattam

Kollattam or "the stick dance", is one of the most popular dance narratives in Andhra Pradesh. It is also called as Kolannalu or Kolkolannalu. It's a rural art usually performed during village festivals. It is a combination of rhythmic movements, songs and music. The Kolatam group comprises dancers ranging from 8 to 40 where they are grouped in pairs. The stick

s provides the main rhythm. The dancers are led by the leader and move about in two circles. The inner circle receive the strikes on their sticks from the artists in the outer circle that deliver them. Kolattam is also called Kolanna in the Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh state.

Bardo Chham

A folk dance of Sherdukpens, a small community of West Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh, Bardo Chham depicts the victory of good over evil. The dance has an interesting background. According to the local beliefs, forces - both good and evil, rule mankind. The folks believe that in one year, twelve different types of stupid things, representing evil forces, appear each month and get together. The sherdukpens mask themselves representing the different animals and dance to the accompaniment of drums and cymbals as an act of fighting the evil forces.

A 160-man contingent of India’s Assam Rifles on June 27, 2012 left for the Caribbean nation of Haiti on a year-long deployment under the United Nation’s stabilization mission that has been functioning there since 2004. The Indian government had sanctioned the services of Assam Rifles in Haiti for five years form 2010, with a contingent sent in r

otation every year. The force will be serving the UN mandate to restore a secure and stable environment in Haiti in order to promote a political process for strengthening Haiti’s government institutions and rule of law.
Besides India, 41 other countries have deployed their personnel for UN operations in Haiti. Haiti had suffered a severe earth quake in 2010 in which 2.2 lakh persons including 160 UN peacekeepers had lost their lives. The reconstruction work is still going on for which UN is playing a major role.

Since the older times, women have been treated as second rate citizens of all across the globe. The situation is almost the same everywhere-irrespective of the developed country or the developing country-caste, community, colour or creed a position which is comparable in many ways, with that of racial minorities. Women have been relegated to secondary position despite the fact that they numerically constitute about half the world population today.
This situation has caused immense loss to their self-dignity as human beings and also their independent entities, associated with men, apart from other matter, in context with intellectual and professional capability. 
In the very beginning of civilization, women enjoyed a respectable position in society-at par with men. They actively participated in social, religious affairs as well as in warfare. The social, religious ceremonies were considered incomplete unless women participated in them. However, it was their physical constitution which acted as hurdles on the way to doing their various different difficult tasks.
